Christmas At Squaw Valley

The skiing here has been unreal lately. Many feet of snow has been falling followed by sunshine breaks providing for epic conditions. Everything is skiing great. I have been skiing with anyone who wants to show up at 10 am at the top of the Funitel as part of the “Ski with Jonny” days. You would think it might be slow and boring but even with groups as big as 40, we have been having a great time. After the first few warm-ups we get after it and I have been really impressed with the caliber of skiers. Come on out if you are around. squaw.com

  • Let’s see some pics!

  • I skied with Jonny on Mon. 12/29 and it was great. He initially entertained the crowd of about 50 with a back flip on Shirley Lake. Nancy Cushing, CEO of Squaw, even joined us that morning. The highlight was skiing down Jonny Moseley’s run just before lunch when the crowd was reduced to 15. Two days later, as I was telling some friends about this great experience, my 5 year old daughter, a Squaw Mighty Mite skier, overheard the conversation and told me that she rode on the chair with Jonny that day. She then explained to me that he was an Olympic gold medalist that used to be in the same program that she is currently in. She’s now fired up about skiing. I hope Squaw continues this great mountain host program.

  • Just spent 2 days at Squaw29th and 30th. Didn’t do the Ski with Johnny thing, but that’s ok I’m sure you had your fill of being mobbed. I was very impressed with squaw. My sis, brother’n'law and myself hiked to the top of Granite Chief and man was that something special. KT22 was pretty cool as well, but a bit more skied off. That Granite peek was amazing. Dropping off of the cornice and into the thick barely tracked snow, was great.

  • Trevor – I was lucky enough to catch Jonny a few days at Squaw. It was really great seeing him ski. Here are a few shots: http://www.flickr.com/photos/chris1089/sets/72157612259902267/
